Problems may arise at any time of your life and whilst you may generally be able to put them behind you, sometimes these problems become just too much to handle alone. Sometimes, painful experiences from the past may be causing problems and difficulties in the present. Or, it may be that a sudden trauma, bereavement, job loss or escalating depression or stress can suddenly leave you feeling as though you just can't cope alone.
As integral counsellors we work on the basis that problems very rarely exist alone; they often impact on other areas of your life. The integral model of counselling offers scope for you and your counsellor to identify all these areas whether emotional, social, physical or cultural that may have been affected by the presenting problem and enable you to achieve an integral change.
An integral model of counselling can also incorporate different therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioural (CBT), psychodynamic, or person-centered. As your counsellor begins to get an insight into your problems and you get to know each other it may become apparent that a particular style of counselling is best suited to you as an individual. |
